Catalpa Malbec

Fruit for this quite stunning Malbec comes from the very special sub-district of La Consulta in the Uco Valley at 1,200 metres above sea level, from vines more than 70 years old. La Consulta seems to produce a very specific fruit intensity, particularly on the nose, where there is a decidely pure and sweet scent in the Malbec, an aroma we often half-jokingly associate with ‘black jelly babies’. That same purity carries on tothe palatein thisbeautifully integrated yetbold and robust Malbec. 12 months ageing in new French oak for 50% of the wine; the remainder is kept in stainless steel before blending.
